Lolli and Grace One Meaningful Word #8 - "Castle In The Sky" Stitch Along

I know you've been waiting! Yes, indeed, it is time for us to talk about this year's One Meaningful Word stitch along. Can you believe this will be the eighth one? And lemme tell ya...this design is really a treat!

Here are some of the techniques you will learn as we work on "Castle In The Sky:"
• Dyeing your own fabric and threads - yes, you can totally do this! It's so easy but it results in the loveliest background fabric and variegated threads. I'll show you exactly how to do it.

• Thread painting, because it's gorgeous, and so many people want to learn how to beautifully blend different colors of threads for a truly stunning effect. Even if you've never done it, I'll teach you what you need to know.

• Fluffy clouds that you just want to reach out and touch. They are three dimensional and so much fun!

• A stumpwork butterfly that practically jumps off the fabric. There are so many things you can do once you learn this fascinating skill.

• Various stitches and techniques (such as the fringe stitch, Rhodes stitch, edged buttonhole, and woven wheel, just to name a few) that you can you use on all of your future projects.

•  And as with all of my recent One Meaningful Word SALS, you can either choose to create a word for the hoop, or leave it off and just stitch the design by itself.

Below is some REALLY IMPORTANT information you need to know about this SAL, so please read through everything about how it all works, and what your options are for supplies/kits and the pattern.

General Information

• The stitch along will start on Saturday, April 6th.

• There are three ways to complete this stitch along:
Option 1: Purchase the complete supply kit with everything you need included. There are two versions of the supply kit - one where you can dye your own fabric/thread, and one where you don't need to do any dyeing. (More details and a link for kits below.)

Option 2: Purchase printed fabric panels but purchase all of the other supplies yourself. (No need to transfer the designs with this option!) Separate panels for both the main design (the castle) and the stumpwork butterfly will be included. There will be TWO options for fabric panels - one option for dyeing the fabric yourself, and one option that includes blue fabric if you do NOT want to dye the fabric. (More info about fabric panels and a link below.)

Option 3: Purchase the PDF line drawing (transferring it to your fabric yourself) and gather/purchase/use all of your own supplies. (There will be a supply list posted in a separate post.) If you are purchasing the PDF line drawing, you will only receive a black and white drawing of the design. All of the other instructions for transferring the design will be available when the stitch along starts.

• During the dates of the SAL a link to a Google drive folder will be posted here on the blog. That folder will contain PDFs with the instructions, diagrams, and links to detailed video tutorials for each part as it is released.

• A short time after the SAL is completely finished, all of that info will be taken off the blog and moved to my shop, where you'll be able to purchase the complete PDF pattern or the supply kits, just as you would with any other design in the shop.

• There will be SIX parts to this stitch along. Each part will have complete instructions, stitch diagrams, photos, and a link to a detailed video tutorial on the Lolli and Grace YouTube channel

• In just a day or two there will be a complete supply list available right here on the blog if you are not purchasing a kit and want to get all of your supplies ready to go beforehand.

PDF Patterns, Supply Kits, And Fabric Panels

Supply Kits

Pre-orders for supply kits are now available in the Lolli and Grace shop.  Pre-orders allow me to accurately judge how many people want them, so I can do a better job of making sure everyone who wants a kit, gets one. But these always sell very fast (and often sell out), so if you think want a supply kit, don't wait! Click the link below to get one:

The kits are priced at a “Stitch Along Only” lower price, and they will stay at that price throughout the duration of the Stitch Along. They will continue to be available in the shop after the Stitch Along ends (subject to availability of the supplies), but the prices will increase after the Stitch Along concludes.

Pre-printed Fabric Panels

Although there will be complete instructions about how to transfer this design, it does have a lot of detail. Purchasing the pre-printed fabric panels allows you to totally skip this step. Click the link below to get one of the two available options for fabric panels:

PDF Line Drawing

Here is a link to purchase the PDF line drawing if you will be transferring the design to the fabric yourself:

Stitch Along Schedule

• Part One - Saturday, April 6th

• Part Two - Saturday, April 13th

• Part Three - Saturday, April 20th

• Part Four - Saturday, April 27th

• Part Five - Saturday, May 4th

• Part Six - Saturday, May 11th

All of the instructions and the video links will stay on the blog for the duration of the Stitch Along, and for a short while after it finishes. So if you don't finish your hoop while the SAL is running, THAT'S OK - DO NOT STRESS ABOUT THIS! At some point after the SAL is over, I will remove everything from the blog and it will all be available in the Lolli and Grace shop. Therefore, if it's going to be a while before you're able to finish it, you are welcome to print out the instructions and patterns for your personal use later.

If you're not already, follow me on Instagram, because I will be sharing updates and lots of photos from everyone who is participating over there. I have a very active and fun community of creative people on my Instagram, and I'd love for you to be a part of it!
